With summer well under way, we’re already pining after that one special time of the year, when we get dressed up in scary costumes, welcome the dark and cold months and most importantly, connect with our mortality. There’s always trick or treating and loads of parties to look forward to, but this year, you can switch things up by attending an intimate concert by candlelight, paying tribute to iconic Halloween scores and songs at some of the most hauntingly beautiful venues in The Hoosier Capital.
The Neogothic Scottish Rite Cathedral and the poignant Cyrus Place will light up by the warm glow of hundreds of flickering candles, as a talented string quartet gives their take on classics, including Halloween, Psycho, Beetlejuice and The Addams Family.
A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics
Taking place at some of the most beautiful yet chilling venues Indianapolis has to offer, The Cyrus Place and The Theater at Scottish Rite Cathedral, Candlelight invites you to two intimate and terrifying tributes to Halloween classics.
You can expect to hear horror classics that have become staples during spooky season, such as Danny Elfman’s “Beetlejuice Theme”, Bernard Herrmann’s “Psycho Prelude”, John Carpenter’s “Halloween Theme”, as well as eternal compositions by Camille Saint-Saëns, Franz Schubert and Modest Mussorgsky, among others.
There’s nothing more exciting than the spooky season, where the streets get filled with witches, ghosts, zombies and vampires, and communities engage as children go trick or treating. This year, Candlelight will add to the magic and mischief with a series of concerts celebrating the most iconic Halloween songs and scores.
There are two performances scheduled each evening, at 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm. Doors open 45 minutes prior to the show, so you have plenty of time to take in the beauty of the candlelit venues and take a few pre-show pictures.
